PROTECTING RIGHTS & OUR COMMUNITY
Protecting civil rights, strengthening democracy, and defending immigrant communities are fundamental to a fair and just Connecticut. At a time when voting rights, personal freedoms, and democratic institutions are under pressure, we must take bold action to expand access, ensure accountability, and uphold human dignity. By investing in people, increasing transparency, and defending basic rights, we can build a stronger, more inclusive democracy that works for everyone. My agenda focuses on protecting the right to vote, limiting the influence of money in politics, reforming our justice system, and standing firmly with immigrant communities:
-
Protect voting rights: Expand access with no-excuse absentee voting, fair early voting reforms, and increased poll worker support.
-
Get money out of politics: Strengthen and expand public financing through the Citizens’ Election Program and limit outsized campaign spending.
-
Modernize elections: Advance ranked-choice voting and ensure transparent, accessible, and equitable election systems.
-
Restore voting justice: Fight for voting rights for incarcerated individuals and protect against voter suppression.
-
Defend civil liberties: Strengthen protections against unlawful surveillance and uphold reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights.
-
Reform the justice system: Shift toward rehabilitation with mental health care, education, job training, and reentry support.
-
Stand with immigrants: Oppose mass deportations, expand pathways to citizenship, and treat immigrants with dignity and respect.
-
Push back on extremism: Defend democratic institutions and ensure government remains accountable to the people, not political agendas.
